We're happy to welcome our special friends to the classroom. We began around the May 12th. These friends have an antennae, a thorax, an abdomen and 4 wings! They are the Painted Lady variety of butterfly. We've watched them grow from a caterpillar. We released the butterflies in our forest school area on Thurs., 27th. (May)

Rain, Rain, Go Away! Making a rainstick with our very special guest, Gary. We used: a shipping tube; roofing nails; mac-tac; decorative tape; feathers; and, raffia... and lots of items inside to make the sound of rain (April 5 & 6).

Celebrating "National Bubblewrap Appreciation Day". Artwork was created by dabbing white paint with bubblewrap onto the image to create a snow affect (Jan. 25)

Science: Gravity - Students learn about gravity: an invisible force that pushes objects down causing the object to fall. Each student created a SPLART! splat art made by dropping paint splats onto paper from a variety of heights. The higher the drop, the bigger the splat! (Jan.)
Science - theme: Motion, Push & Pull. Making a marble/pom pom maze using a variety of materials. We also built and experimented with marble rolls made from cardboard supplies. (Jan.)
The Week before Christmas Break - a few things we did: participated in zoom Christmas caroling each morning; Deck the Halls activities and games; cookie decorating; pajama day, arts & crafts; outdoor walks; popcorn and a movie.

Food Bank Fundraising Event - Mr. Whyard agreed to have 1 inch of hair cut per 100 donations. Elijah Smith Eagles brought in around 1,000 items. Mr. Whyard opted for a green mohawk.
Bannock Making - Ms. Teresa and Maci (our "friendly fox" for the day) prepare baked bannock for our classroom (Dec. 3)

Circle of Courage - our display includes pics showing ways that our classroom is demonstrating: Mastery; Independence; Belonging; and, Generousity. "Elijah Smith Eagles always give their best effort"
